STATEMENT BY ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL R. HEWITT PATE
REGARDING THE ORACLE TRIAL

WASHINGTON, D.C. - R. Hewitt Pate, Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Department's Antitrust Division, issued the following statement today as the case in chief of the Oracle trial concludes:

"The government sued to block Oracle's acquisition of PeopleSoft because it would harm competition. Now that the evidence is in, we look forward to presenting the court with our Findings of Fact, Conclusions of Law, post-trial brief, and to closing arguments as we enter the final phase of the trial."

The parties will file their Proposed Findings of Fact and Proposed Conclusions of Law on July 8 and their post-trial briefs on July 12. Closing arguments are scheduled for July 20.
