U.S. v. Salomon Brothers Inc
Civil No.: 92 CIV 3700 (S.D.N.Y.)

A civil complaint was filed in US District Court in New York, New York, charging Salomon Brothers Inc of New York, New York, with conspiring, in violation of Section 1 of the Sherman Act, with unnamed co-conspirators to coordinate their trading activity in May 1993 two-year Treasury notes in order to adversely affect prices and rates for the notes in secondary and financing markets. A stipulation and final judgment were also filed, which, if approved by the court, will settle the suit. The judgment calls for Salomon Brothers Inc to pay $27,500,000.00, plus the Additional Amount defined in the Civil Settlement Agreement between Salomon Inc, Salomon Brothers Inc and the United States Department of Justice dated May 20, 1992, upon entry of the judgment.
