STATEMENT OF JOEL I. KLEIN, ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR ANTITRUST, ON THE ABANDONMENT OF THE LOCKHEED-NORTHROP TRANSACTION "We welcome this decision to abandon the transaction. This means that the United States government and the American people will continue to receive the highest possible quality of military products and services in the defense of this nation, at the lowest possible cost to the American Taxpayer." "We greatly appreciate the assistance of the Department of Defense in investigating and litigating this matter. Justice and defense were united in the view that the proposed merger could not go forward. Both agencies are committed to ensuring that America's fighting men and women have the best equipment that anyone can develop, at prices that the U.S. Military can afford." ### 98-334 |
