AUTHORITY DELEGATED Pursuant to the authorities delegated to the Director, Indian Health Service (IHS), as specified in the Reorganization Order of January 4, 1988 (52 FR 47053), which elevated the IHS to a Public Health Service Agency, I hereby delegate to the officials listed below, the following authorities: For the conservation of health and to ensure a comprehensive health services delivery system for American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN), reference the Act of November 2, 1921 (25 United States Code (U.S.C.) 13; c115, 42 stat. 208), expending moneys as Congress may from time to time appropriate for the benefit, care, and assistance of Indians throughout the United States; and the Act of August 5, 1954 (Public Law 83-568; 68 stat: 674 as amended; 42 U.S.C. 2001 et seq.), transferring health and sanitation services for AI/ANs from the Department of the Interior to the Department of Health and Human Services.
Deputy Director, IHS AUTHORITY TO REDELEGATE These authorities may be redelegated. RESTRICTIONS AND LIMITATIONS These authorities shall be exercised through the chain-of-command and in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policy directives issued by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. SUPERSESSION This delegation supersedes the previous delegation of authority located in Indian Health Manual, Program Delegation #10 dated June 26, 1989. EFFECTIVE DATE This delegation is effective on date of signature. |
