George F. McElreath serves as the Assistant United States Trustee (AUST) for the Northern District of Texas. He was appointed on April 3, 1983 making him the longest serving AUST in the country. In addition to supervising a staff of five attorneys, George handles a personal caseload which has historically consisted of some of the largest and most complex Chapter 11s in the country. He is an occasional lecturer for local professional associations and served as the Standing Chapter 13 Trustee for the Dallas Division of the Northern District of Texas. George graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University and attended Queen Mary College of the University of London. He received his law degree from the University of Texas in 1977. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
