Whitesell Green Inc., Pensacola, Fla., is being awarded an $8,128,000 firm-fixed-price contract to design/build a single story Army aviation simulation center to incorporate state-of-the-art computer systems. Approximately half of the building will be a clear-span open-bay area to house simulators and support functions including a semi-trailer loading dock. The remainder of the facility will be primarily demountable partitions on access flooring for classroom areas. Some hard-walled office areas and mechanical/electrical support areas are required around the perimeter of this area. Two 100-person auditoriums are required with fixed seating. Sitework will include parking, access drives, landscaping and irrigation. Work will be performed at Ft. Rucker, Ala., and is expected to be completed by Aug. 20, 2001. Orion Construction, Inc., is being awarded the initial project in the amount of $5,654,000 (base bid item) with options to be exercised for a total cumulative value of $8,637,900. The initial project provides for the repair of seven piers and the demolition of Pier 4 at the Naval Submarine Base, New London, Groton, Conn. The remaining two contractors are being awarded the minimum
