The ALR-67(V)3 is a radar warning receiver, which is an electronic warfare device that helps protect aircraft against radar-controlled weapons. Work will be performed in Goleta, Calif., and is expected to be completed by July 2002. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Seaward Services, Inc., Port Everglades, Fla., is being awarded an $18,149,733 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, time and material contracting arrangement for engineering and technical support services at the South Florida Test Facility. Work under this contract entails a variety of tasks for submarine and surface ship signature trials and varied research projects in the field of ship signature measurement. The City of Norfolk, Norfolk, Va., is being awarded a $5,850,814 firm-fixed-price contract for layberthing services for decommissioned WISCONSIN at a non-Navy pier. This requirement covers site preparation, set up, and acceptance of decommissioned WISCONSIN from the Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility, Portsmouth, Va. to the City of Norfolk. Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va., and is expected to be completed by December 2000. Contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. TRW Space and Electronics Group, Redondo Beach, Calif., and Spectrum Astro, Inc., Gilbert, Ariz., were each awarded on Aug. 16, 1999, a $275,000,000 firm-fixed-price contract to provide for the Program Definition and Risk reduction phase of the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) Low Component. This phase will result in preliminary system designs which can be used to develop, manufacture, deliver, operate, and sustain the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) component of the SBIRS System-of-Systems (SoS) architecture and perform extensive risk reduction and ground demonstration efforts. The SBIRS mission is to develop, deploy, and sustain space-based surveillance systems for missile warning, missile defense, battlespace characterization, and technical intelligence.
