General Shelton will travel to the Middle East

Gen. Henry H. Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, departed Andrews Air Force Base, Md., this morning for a trip to the Middle East. He will visit U.S. and Allied Forces at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey, sailors and Marines stationed in Bahrain and aboard USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT. While in the region, he will make calls on officials in Turkey, Israel and Bahrain. Shelton will return to Washington on Friday, Aug. 20, 1999.
