Step 1. Goals and objectives

The student will understand the physiology, pathology, and management of pregnant women with Rh disease and other atypical blood antibodies.

Objectives

The objectives for this module are:

  • The student will understand the pathophysiology of isoimmunization
  • The student will understand the methods for screening and prevention of isoimmunization
  • The student will understand the management of Rh isoimmunization and other antibodies

Isoimminuzation, and the resulting fetal effects, continues to be a concern in obstetric populations. Although prevention and prophylaxis are well studied, all providers who care for the pregnant woman will encounter these issues routinely. This module will review the pathophysiology of isoimmunization, the methods for screening and prevention, as well as the management of the isoimmunized pregnant woman.
