In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month
and to facilitate greater public dialogue about domestic
violence, Talk Radio Row, located in New York City, devoted
several hours of airtime on October 11, 2005 to address this
issue, featuring interviews with more than twenty U.S. leaders,
experts, and celebrities who advocate domestic violence awareness.
One such featured guest was the Honorable Diane M. Stuart,
Director, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW). Ms. Stuart
discussed the importance of the coordinated community response
and how this approach has improved the way we respond to
violence against women. Ms. Stuart's message was most certainly
heard, as Talk Radio Row had over 12.5 million listeners
that day and was aired on over 969 radio stations. |
