Volcano Deformation Project -
Augustine Island, Alaska - Geodetic Network
-
Map of Augustine Island, showing geodetic network,
consisting of EDM benchmarks,
telemetered electronic tiltmeters, and permanent GPS
stations.
-
EDM:
Line lengths are measured using an EDM and theodolite.
Many of the lines have also been measured using GPS to establish the
exact coordinates of each benchmark.
The plan is to occupy the entire network using GPS.
-
TILTMETERS:
The tiltmeter data is telemetered to Homer,
Alaska where it is stored until downloaded
to CVO.
The six electronic tiltmeter sites are:
MOUND, WINDY, DOMO, ORCA, WALRUS,
and OTTER.
-
GPS:
The GPS network consists of three permanent GPS receivers
located at MOUND,
WINDY, and
DOMO.
MOUND is the reference station.
Coordinates are measured weekly to
WINDY and
DOMO.
