Problem to be Addressed

In an environment with increasing need for more and better data on child labor and based on the valuable advice of the SIMPOC External Advisory Committee (SEAC), this project targets critical areas for increasing the quality, national ownership, and sustainability of statistical programs on child labor.

Project Objectives

  • Development of a limited set of questions to be included in ongoing national household sample surveys;

  • Development of more appropriate questions to be addressed to children;

  • Development of refined sampling methodologies for more effective household-based child labor surveys;

  • Use of the revised methodologies in one country, Kyrgyzstan.

  • Revise national child labor questionnaire;

  • Revise sampling methodology;

  • Pilot test questionnaires and sampling methodologies;

  • Revise child-specific questionnaire;

  • Pilot test child-specific questionnaire;

  • Revise child labor survey methodological manuals;

  • Conduct national child labor survey in Kyrgyzstan.
