The Scholarship Program was created to meet the ongoing health professional staffing needs of the Indian Health Service. The national goal is to provide health care service to raise the health status of American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest possible level. To accomplish this goal, the Indian Health Service conducts three interrelated, competitive scholarship programs including: Health Professions Preparatory Scholarship, Health Professions Pre-graduate Scholarship Program, and Health Professions Scholarship Program.
