Climate
The weather in the Washington DC area varies with the season. Summers can be very hot with temperatures in the 90's or higher, often with high humidity. Temperatures during the spring and fall are often cooler, with less humidity. Winter temperatures can vary from mild to very cold.
Did You Know?
The statue of FDR in a wheelchair, located at the memorial entrance, was not part of the original design, nor was it present for the 1997 dedication. Interested parties, including the National Organization on Disability, fought to depict FDR in a wheelchair; this additional statue appeared in 2001.
