Biosketch:
Leslie K. Serchuck, M.D., M.A., is an infectious disease specialist and board-certified pediatrician. Her areas of research include treatment and management of HIV infection and opportunistic infections in HIV-infected children, with a focus on tuberculosis, as well as pediatric HIV infection and bioethics. She is involved in clinical trials conducted as part of the NICHD Domestic and International Pediatric/Perinatal HIV Clinical Studies Network and the Adolescent Treatment Network for HIV/AIDS Interventions. She directs the pediatric protocol of the NISDI, which, in collaboration with in-country investigators, is providing a description and analysis of HIV-exposed and infected infants, children, and adolescents in Latin America and Caribbean countries. Dr. Serchuck participates on the Clinical Center Bioethics Committee at the NIH and serves on the U.S. guidelines working group for treatment of HIV-infected children.
