Tuskegee University President Announces Retirement

After 28 years of exemplary service and extraordinary accomplishments, Dr. Benjamin F. Payton, the fifth President of Tuskegee University, informed the Board of Trustees today of his intent to retire from the Tuskegee University presidency, June 30, 2010.  The Board of Trustees accepted Dr. Payton's letter of retirement with much reluctance but great appreciation and thanks for the outstanding work he has done at Tuskegee.

President Payton hosts Student Officers Council and gives oath of office to 2009-2010 student leaders

Holding to a tradition initiated by Tuskegee University President Benjamin F. Payton, the 2009-2010 Student Government Association officers, Miss Tuskegee University and Court, and Mr. Tuskegee University and Gentlemen were installed on April 21 during the final meeting of the Student Officers Council for the 2008-2009 academic year at Grey Columns, the President's Residence.

Bioethics Center commemorates 10-year anniversary

The Tuskegee University National Center for Bioethics in Research and Health Care celebrated its 10th year this week with its annual commemoration of the Presidential Apology for the infamous "Syphilis Study" conducted by the U.S. Public Health Service in Macon County, Alabama.  The theme for this year's program is "Commemorating 10 years: Ethical Perspectives on Origins and Destiny."
