How long does it take to tour Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site?
We recommend that you set aside one and a half hours to visit the exhibit building and tour Mrs. Walker’s home.

Where should I start my visit?
Start your visit to Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site at the park’s visitor center, 600 N. 2nd Street in downtown Richmond’s historic Jackson Ward.

Where do I park?
Street parking is available on 2nd Street.

How can I purchase a National Park Pass?
The National Park Pass can be purchased at the Eastern National bookstore outlet at all of the National Park Service visitor centers in and around Richmond.  However, the Golden Age and Golden Access passes can only be obtained at Richmond National Battlefield Park’s Civil War Visitor Center at Tredegar Iron Works, located at 470 Tredegar Street in Richmond.

Do you have any kids’ programs?
Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site has a Junior Ranger program available to children between the ages of 8 and 12.  You can request the program at the visitor center desk.

Do you have any ranger-conducted activities?
Ranger-conducted tours of Mrs. Walker’s home are offered Monday through Saturday, on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please call the park at (804)771-2017 if you are planning a visit with a group of ten or more people.

Is there a fee?
There is no entrance fee to visit Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site.

How do I use your park for research?
You can get assistance on many questions by visiting the park visitor center.  Detailed research using the park’s library or archives requires an appointment with the park historian, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.  Call (804) 771-2017 x. 21 to make those arrangements.

I am over age 62.  Where do I purchase the Golden Age Pass?
If you are over age 62 you are eligible for a Golden Age pass.  This pass will allow you free entrance to you and those in your vehicle into any Federal park with an entrance fee.  You can purchase the Golden Age Pass at the Civil War Visitor Center at Tredegar Iron Works, located at 470 Tredegar Street in Richmond.  The price is a one-time fee of $10.  You must show proof that you are age 62 or older. (A driver’s license will do just fine.)  Note:  the Golden Age Pass is not honored by any private institutions around the city of Richmond, including the “In Search of Liberty” exhibit housed in the Gun Foundry building at Tredegar Iron Works.
