Weaver and Heffner selected as Directors in GSA's Office of Governmentwide Policy

WASHINGTON, DC -- Marie "Terry" Weaver and Michele G. Heffner have been selected as directors in General Services Administration's Office of Governmentwide Policy (OGP).

Ms. Weaver will head the Office of IT Accommodation, replacing Ronald Kelly, who has been acting in the job. Mr. Kelly is the Director of GSA's Regulatory Information Service Center. Ms. Heffner will be in charge of the Office of Interagency IT Strategies. She replaces Sandra Hense, who recently retired from the agency.

The mission of Ms. Weaver's office is ensure that technology is accessible to all individuals with disabilities, in compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1986. "The need for assistive technology is imperative. I'm excited about bringing the tools of technology to assist government employees and citizens in accessing vital services and information," said Weaver.

Ms. Heffner's office has the mission of providing management support to the CIO Council, the Information Technology Resources Board, and the Procurement Executive Council to enable all three interagency groups to achieve their strategic vision. "GSA is proud of its track record in providing sound management support to various interagency councils over the past several years," Heffner said. "I look forward to building on that success under the new administration."

Ms. Weaver holds a bachelors degree in Communication Arts from St. Johns University; Ms. Heffner holds a Masters degree from the University of Maryland in Management Information Systems and an executive leadership certificate from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.
