The Federal Acquisition Conference - 2001 Starts April 18

WASHINGTON, DC - Featuring the new Administration's message on acquisition, the U.S. General Services Administration and the Procurement Executives Council will host an estimated 600 acquisition officials from throughout government and private industry during the Federal Acquisition Conference - 2001. The Director of the Office of Management and Budget, the Honorable Mitchell E. Daniels Jr., will deliver the keynote address at the conference, which will be held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on April 18-19.

"This audience, forum and timing present an opportunity that could not be better to give the new administration's vision on acquisition. We are moving fast and it is events like this that help us get the message out to the right people," said David Drabkin, Senior Procurement Executive at GSA and one of the three signatories of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The conference will also feature discussion by Federal policymakers who will present their vision of how today's business should be conducted and their plans for tomorrow's business.

The Procurement Executives Council is chaired by OMB's Deputy Director for Management. It is an interagency council comprised of the Senior Procurement Executives in the Federal government's Executive Branch as well as the Administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP). GSA provides billions of dollars in solutions to the Federal government and issues the FAR jointly with the Department of Defense (DoD) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
