WASHINGTON, DC - FEDSIM, an organization of the U.S. General Services Administration, today named Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), as the winner of a task order valued in excess of $596.6 million for technical engineering support for the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR). FEDSIM is GSA's Federal Systems Integration and Management Center of the agency's Federal Technology Service.

Competitively awarded through GSA's Millennia contract, the five-year task order provides technical engineering support to SPAWAR organizations and activities worldwide, afloat and ashore. Previously, SAIC provided technical engineering support to SPAWAR through a now-completed task order that FEDSIM established and managed since 1999.

"FEDSIM has managed many sizeable tasks, but this is the largest to date and clearly demonstrates our expertise in managing large-scale IT efforts," said FEDSIM Director Tim McCurdy. The SAIC technical engineering support services task includes systems architecture, systems engineering, system design, configuration control, pre-installation testing, systems integration, information security, and engineering support for acquisition for all SPAWAR business areas.

FEDSIM offers a wide range of support for planning, developing, acquiring, implementing, maintaining, and managing IT resources and support services. Managing over $1.2 billion in new IT acquisitions in 2001, FEDSIM has a proven track record of developing innovative and award-winning solutions to government IT problems and satisfying requirements for specific IT products and services.

Millennia is a multiple-award, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract vehicle that enables GSA to meet the federal government's demand for large systems integration and development projects by supporting its clients in a timely and cost-effective manner.
