GSA Lists Leases, Owned Properties Online Advances Agency's e-Government Tools

Washington, D.C. -- Starting today, all U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) leases in private buildings, along with the expiration dates, and the locations of all of GSA-owned buildings are available online through links from http://www.firstgov.gov and http://www.gsa.gov.

The GSA buildings and sites database allows the visitor to view expiring lease/occupancy information from more than 7,000 GSA leases and the locations of more than 1,900 GSA-owned buildings. Visitors to the site can view the information by GSA region or by state from congressional districts.

"Making our properties available electronically furthers the goal of the administration and Congress to use leading-edge technology to improve government efficiency," said F. Joseph Moravec, GSA's Commissioner of the Public Buildings Service. "In fact, Congress created GSA in 1949 to improve government efficiency."

Brian K. Polly, GSA's Acting Assistant Commissioner for Portfolio Management, added, "Listing GSA properties and leases online enables us to provide instant information to GSA's customer agencies, Members of Congress, the general public and real estate professionals." The property information will be accessible from http://www.firstgov.gov and http://www.gsa.gov through links to http://www.acn.net.

GSA is the executive management agency responsible for providing one-stop, workplace solutions for 1 million federal workers to meet their real estate, telecommunications, supply and procurement needs. It employs 14,000 workers and has a $15.5 billion annual operating budget.
