GSA and Federal CIO Council Launch E-Gov Inventory Online

Washington, DC - In partnership with the Federal Chief Information Officers Council, the U.S. General Services Administration's Office of Intergovernmental Solutions has launched an online inventory of Federal agency electronic government initiatives
(http://policyworks.gov/intergov).

"The E-Gov Inventory presents an interesting and exciting snapshot on the status of E-Gov activities in the Federal Government," said Frank McDonough, Deputy Associate Administrator of Intergovernmental Solutions in the GSA Office of Governmentwide Property.
"Virtually all departments and agencies, 36 in total, have reported more than 1,300 e-gov initiatives."

With the government becoming more sophisticated in its application of technology, over 85 percent of the inventory's initiatives use the web to implement digital government. More than 550 of the initiatives provide citizen-centered information and services, and more than 300 provide business-centered initiatives.

The online inventory allows the user to generate reports tailored to their needs. Users can make queries by agency, type of program, distribution technology, or keyword. Users can also request that reports return information by the type of service offered -- government to citizen, government to government, government to employee or government to business.
