Marshall Tapped as GSA's Senior Policy Advisor

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. General Services Administrator Stephen A. Perry today announced his appointment of Susan G. Marshall as the agency's Senior Policy Advisor.

In that role, Ms. Marshall will primarily focus on the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA), performance measures, and will coordinate with Congress and the Office of Management and Budget. Marshall has previously worked for the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs and the House Committee on Government Reform and Oversight. She also has extensive private-sector experience with the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), Federal Sources Inc., and Aerospace Industries Association of America, Inc.

While a staff member for the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs, Ms. Marshall most recently conducted oversight of the GSA on issues such as electronic government, privacy, federal surplus property disposal, telecommunications and procurement. Additionally, she developed legislative proposals such as the Government Information Security Act of 1999, the Presidential Transition Act of 2000, and the National Historical Publications and Records Act. Until 1998, she lobbied on issues relating to information technology such as tax issues, labor law and immigrations for ITAA where she was Vice President of the Information Services Division.

Ms. Marshall attended Pennsylvania State University and graduated in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in Political Science. Prior to 1986, she attended University of Exeter in Exeter, England, concentrating on Political Studies. She currently resides in Alexandria, Va.

GSA is a centralized federal procurement and property agency responsible for providing office space, supplies and services for the federal government. GSA operates and manages 1,800 government-owned buildings and 6,500 leased buildings while playing a key role in procuring and managing the government's massive inventory of computer and telecommunications equipment and services.

Since its creation in 1949, the agency has evolved from a mandatory supplier of space and products for federal civilian agencies to a non-mandatory provider of competitively-priced, high-quality office space, commercial products and military and civilian workforce solutions.
