Gary Krump Elected Vice Chair of the Procurement Executives Council

Washington, DC -- Gary J. Krump, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Acquisition and Materiel Management, Department of Veterans Affairs, was elected to the position of Vice Chair for the Procurement Executives Council (PEC). Throughout his tenure as a PEC member, Krump has served in numerous PEC positions including Chair Electronic Commerce Committee and as a member of the Executive Committee. Additionally, Krump is active in a variety of PEC outreach efforts. Paul A. Denett, Director of Administration, Department of the Interior (DOI) and former Vice Chair of the PEC will be retiring from the DOI after nearly 33 years of Federal service.

The Procurement Executive Council recently released its "Strategic Plan for Fiscal Year 2001-2005. The plan focuses on the council's vision of the acquisition professional as the government's business manager and leader. It articulates the goals, objectives, and initiatives that the council envisions in addressing the acquisition issues of strategic importance to the federal community in the 21st century.

The members of the Council include the Administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy and the Senior Procurement Executives from the Departments of: Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Justice, Labor, Transportation, Treasury, State, and Veterans Affairs; as well as, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, General Services Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, Small Business Administration , Social Security Administration, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and two members representing the Small Agency Council.
