WASHINGTON, D.C.--David J. Barram, acting Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration, appointed today Joel Odum as Chief Operating Officer of the agency's 1997 Presidential Inaugural Affairs Office.

Odum will oversee GSA's support to the 1997 Presidential Inaugural Committee. GSA has provided administrative, financial and security services to all inaugurations since 1952 when Dwight Eisenhower was first elected president.

GSA is authorized to provide office space, furniture, supplies, procurement services, personnel and other support for inaugurations and works closely with the chairman of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, appointed by the President, and the Departments of Defense and Interior and the District of Columbia.

A resident of the District of Columbia, Odum heads GSA's office of business and industry outreach. He worked as a director of constituency outreach in the 1992 Clinton campaign, and directed scheduling for the First Family during the 1993 presidential inauguration.
