Acting Administrator David J. Barram of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) today announced the appointment of Wolfgang J. Zoellner, chief of GSA's Public Buildings Service in the agency's Denver office, to head GSA's Mid-Atlantic regional office in Philadelphia. He will succeed Paul Chistolini, who is moving to a key position at the agency's Washington, D.C. headquarters in January.

As acting administrator in Philadelphia, Zoellner will oversee an operating budget of $1.3 billion and 1,473 GSA employees. GSA's Mid-Atlantic region houses 94,461 federal employees in 176 government-owned buildings and 582 leased locations in Delaware, Maryland, southern New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

Zoellner, who joined GSA as a management trainee in 1964, has held a series of high-level positions over the years, including acting regional administrator in San Francisco and deputy commissioner of GSA's Public Buildings Service in Washington, D.C.
