GSA Posts Debarment and Suspension List on World Wide Web

WASHINGTON --The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced today that it has made available on the World Wide Web the List of Parties Excluded from Federal Procurement and Nonprocurement Programs, a governmentwide compilation of individuals and firms ineligible to participate in federal procurement and nonprocurement programs.

The new Web site is updated daily and is available 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. Government contracting officers are required to check the list prior to awarding contracts and are prohibited from making awards to listed parties. Additionally, the list is used to verify eligibility for various federal nonprocurement programs, such as grants, scholarships, loans, and loan guarantees.

Al Matera, Director of the GSA Acquisition Policy Division, which is responsible for the list, described the new website as "user friendly." Mr. Matera also noted that the new site features an automated password system to facilitate access to and downloading of information on the list. The previous password system sometimes "took several days or weeks to process requests; the new system will accomplish the same function on-line in moments."

The new Web site is part of GSA's continuing effort to streamline the government procurement process and promote electronic commerce by making essential information accessible via the Internet. There is no charge to access the Web site, which is located at http://www.ARNet.gov/epls/.
