Charles Self has been appointed to the position of Assistant Commissioner for Information Technology Integration (ITI) in the U.S. General Services Administration's Federal Telecommunications Service. Mr. Self, who has been acting in the position since October 1996, previously served as the ITI Deputy Assistant Commissioner and the Federal Systems Integration and Management Center (FEDSIM) Director, one of four nationwide programs in ITI.

In making the announcement, Bob Woods, FTS Commissioner said, "I am very pleased to have Charlie as part of the FTS executive management team and look forward to his continuing to thrill our customers."

ITI has been recognized by both industry and customer agencies as a leader in their innovative approach to procurement. Much of this innovation has taken place under Mr. Self's direction. In addition to the FEDSIM program, ITI is responsible for the Federal Computer Acquisition Center (FEDCAC), the Federal Information Systems Support Program (FISSP), and the Federal Acquisition Services for Technology Program (FAST). ITI is responsible for providing more than $850 million annually of technical and contractual assistance to Federal agencies in all areas related to the acquisition, integration, management and use of information systems and technology.
