Robert A. Peck, commissioner of the Public Buildings Service at the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), has been selected to receive a 2000 Corporate Real Estate Leadership Award from Site Selection Magazine, official publication of the International Development Research Council (IDRC).

Peck, who will receive the award Sunday at IDRC's New York World Congress, was recognized by the international corporate real estate magazine for his leadership role in various areas, including:

- linking real estate and finance, as reflected in GSA's Linking-Budget-to- Performance policy;
- information technology strategies, as reflected in GSA's Asset Business Plan web site (ABPnet), which tracks financial data, customer satisfaction and business performance for the space GSA controls in some 8,300 buildings, and which last fall won the 1999 IDRC award for Best Decision Support Practice;
- service delivery, as reflected in GSA's "ABC" (asset/business/customer) approach, which maximizes employee and real property assets, as GSA works to expand its market share in profitable business services and optimize performance for the customer and GSA;
- corporate infrastructure integration, as reflected in GSA's 12 Centers of Expertise for border stations, the office of the chief architect, childcare operations, courthouse management, energy, historic buildings and arts, presidential libraries, project management, retail tenant services, site selection, acquisition and relocation, and urban development and livability;
- facilitating globalization, as reflected in Peck's participation in The Workplace Network of senior executives in leading organizations; and
- implementing alternative workplace strategies, as reflected in the Adaptable Workplace Lab, which incorporates the latest technology in space and furnishings designed for maximum flexibility to adjust easily to change.
