Sallie McDonald appointed as new Assistant Commissioner for GSA'sOffice of Information Assurance and Critical Infrastructure Protection

WASHINGTON, DC�Sallie McDonald has been selected as the new Assistant Commissioner for the
Office of Information Assurance and Critical Infrastructure Protection at the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). This office is a part of GSA's Federal Technology Service.

As the new Assistant Commissioner, Ms. McDonald will be responsible for governmentwide activities involving the FedCIRC (Federal Computer Incident Response Capability), which serves as the civilian government's clearinghouse for reporting computer intrusions and disseminating alerts to the Federal community; the Federal Public Key (PKI) Infrastructure Steering Committee, which advances the use of PKI throughout the federal government; and initiatives under Presidential Decision Directive 63 to make the Federal sector a model for critical infrastructure protection.

Ms. McDonald has been with GSA for 23 years. She has been in the Information Assurance office for the past 3 years where she has spearheaded programs such as Safeguard, Access Certificates for Electronic Signatures (ACES), and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) activities. She also coordinated all GSA support to establish and operate the Y2K Information Coordination Center for the President's Council on the Year 2000 Conversion.

Ms. McDonald attended the University of Miami and received a Master of Public Administration from American University. She lives in Washington, DC.
