WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On November 9, 2000, the U.S. General Services Administration honored 68 government employees during graduation ceremonies for the eighth class in the 1,000 by the Year 2000 (1Kx2K ) Program. The 1Kx2K Program is an effort to advance information resources management (IRM) education and to help prepare the next generation of Federal workers in this area. Its goal is to offer details about the advancements in IRM technology and to keep employees up-to-date.

GSA presented IRM certificates to the 68 participants who completed six graduate level courses in IRM, information technology and information management at a participating college or university. GSA also recognized 51 of those students who completed requirements for a Master's Degree through the program. The reception and graduation ceremony were held in the auditorium at the GSA Building at 1800 F St., N.W., in Washington, D.C., beginning at 9 a.m. The 1Kx2K program initially set its sights on registering 1,000 students by 2000.
