WASHINGTON, D.C. – Stephen A. Perry, Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration, today announced the selection of David L. Bibb as Deputy Administrator.

“David’s ability, experience and dedication to public service are important assets to GSA and the Bush Administration,” said Mr. Perry.  “In addition, he has the passion for excellence and the leadership skills that will enable him to continue to make outstanding contributions in this new role.”

As Deputy Administrator, Mr. Bibb formalizes the role he has served in since July 2003 when he was named acting Deputy Administrator for GSA.

"It is a privilege to serve the Bush Administration and Administrator Perry. I am honored to have been given their confidence to serve as GSA’s Deputy Administrator,” said Mr. Bibb.

As a senior official, Mr. Bibb will work closely with Administrator Perry and the GSA team to provide property policy, management and acquisition services to other federal agencies, thereby enabling them to achieve their missions of service to the American people.

Mr. Bibb has been at GSA for 32 years, originally joining GSA's Atlanta office as a management intern in 1971.  While at GSA, he has held several executive-level positions, including Assistant Commissioner for Planning-Public Buildings Service, Deputy Associate Administrator for Real Property-Office of Governmentwide Policy, and Deputy Commissioner-Public Buildings Service.

Mr. Bibb is a graduate of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn. He received a master’s degree from Florida State University in 1973. Mr. Bibb and his wife, Rebecca, reside in Lake Ridge, Va. They have two adult children.

GSA is a centralized federal procurement and property management agency created by Congress to improve government efficiency and help federal agencies better serve the public. It acquires, on behalf of federal agencies, office space, equipment, telecommunications, information technology, supplies and services. GSA, comprised of 13,000 associates, provides services and solutions for the office operations of over 1 million federal workers located in more than 8,000 government-owned and leased buildings in 2,000 U.S. communities.
