GSA's Everett Tapped to Lead National Capital Region

Washington, DC – Annie Wiggins Everett, Deputy Regional Administrator, National Capital Region (NCR), will become Acting Regional Administrator for NCR on December 12, replacing Donald Williams, who announced his intention to step down effective December 9, 2005 after four years on the job.

Ms. Everett has more than 30 years of federal service.  She previously served as Acting Regional Administrator for NCR, from January 20 through December 2, 2001. She’s also served as Deputy Assistant Regional Administrator for Public Buildings Service for NCR; Chief of Staff for PBS at GSA's Central Office; Director of GSA's national Child Care Program Office, and held numerous other positions at GSA.

“I have known and worked with Ann for many years and her experience with NCR and GSA made this not only an ideal choice but a very easy choice,” said Acting Administrator David L. Bibb. “I look forward to working with Ann and I have full confidence that she will perform in this role as she has consistently throughout her career—with distinction.”

“I am pleased that David has the confidence in me that led him to make this appointment,” Ms. Everett said. “We have much to accomplish here in the National Capital Region as we continue our work on a number of pressing issues, among them human capital management, acquisition excellence, and real property management.”

During her career with GSA, Ms. Everett has received numerous awards.  Most noteworthy are: the Presidential Meritorious Rank Award, GSA's Distinguished Service Award, GSA's Meritorious Service Award, Department of Defense's Appreciation Award for support of the Pentagon's Recovery Effort and numerous other Commendable Service Awards and Citations.

Ms. Everett is a native of Woodland, North Carolina. She is an alumnus of Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina.  She continued her education at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and the Federal Executive Institute.

She is married to Leroy Everett and they have two daughters and one grandson.  She is the daughter of the late Richard L. Wiggins and Mrs. Cleo Wiggins of Washington, DC.
