Communication/Outreach

The Forum on Environmental Measurement (FEM) established a Communication Action Team (CAT) to evaluate what can be done to better communicate with US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA or the Agency) program and regional offices, states and local agencies, and the public and private sectors in general. By having this general charge, the CAT works on some global issues, such as the timely dissemination of information on Agency methods guidelines for posting of published methods on websites, but also is requested to work with other Action Teams to ensure we are meeting the need to promote the use of the cross-agency work accomplished by the FEM.

One of the CAT accomplishments to date is their work to Improve the Quality of Agency Methods. The CAT stepped-in and worked closely with the Environmental Laboratory Advisory Board (ELAB) to gain feedback on information needs not being met. After evaluating several options, the CAT created a web link, methods, to serve as a conduit to link the Agency's information on analytical methods. The CAT will also be a prominent resource to ensure we better utilize the FEM website in linking the Agency's vast information for methods, monitoring, and laboratory science matters in the future, as well.
