NAAEE Annual Awards ~ Call for Nominations

NAAEE members recognize individuals and organizations that excel in EE by presenting annual awards. The award winners will be honored during the annual conference in Portland, Oregon, at the NAAEE Awards Luncheon on Saturday, October 10, 2009. The Call for Nominations is now open. In addition, The NAAEE Awards Committee and Diversity Committee are pleased to announce the creation of the Rosa Parks and Grace Lee Boggs Award for Outstanding Service, which recognizes an individual for their leadership to educate about and promote action that addresses environmental justice concerns at the local, regional, or global levels. The award recognizes a person that demonstrates the values and inner strength of Rosa Parks and Grace Lee Boggs.

Start here >> NCATE Approved NAAEE's EE StandardsIn October 2007, NAAEE's environmental education standards were approved by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), which accredits more than half of the 1,200 or so colleges of teacher education in the U.S. Read more about it here >> and link to the EE standards here>>Become a Reviewer for the NCATE/NAAEE EE Standards Now that NAAEE has EE standards for college education programs, the colleges will need to explain how they meet them during their NCATE review. NAAEE will need a cadre of volunteers well trained in the standards to help with these reviews, which help determine whether a college’s education program is accredited.
