GSA established this award to motivate federal agencies to improve real property management. The program recognizes an agency's success and communicates cutting-edge ideas to agencies striving to improve their real property asset management. GSA focuses on two topic areas for the award program: Asset Management and Sustainability.

The primary goal of this program is to recognize the variety of existing accomplishments and excellence provided by environmental practitioners in adhering to the principles of the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP). The NAEP National Environmental Excellence Award competition is not a membership oriented competition and is expressly created to consider nominations from all interested environmental professionals, their agencies, companies and so forth from across the country. The awards are presented during the annual March NAEP conference. Nominations are typically due the end of September.

DOE Energy Management Awards recognize exemplary DOE programs, facilities, and individuals who promote the goals of the Secretary's TEAM Initiative and show superior leadership in effective, efficient energy management.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 and the Chicago Wilderness consortium sponsor the Conservation and Native Landscaping Awards to recognize outstanding efforts by corporations, park districts and municipalities to use native plants in the landscape or use conservation development practices within the Chicago Wilderness region.
