Jill Denner, Ph.D. - Senior Research Associate

Jill Denner received her PhD in Developmental Psychology in 1995. She joined ETR in 1998, as a Senior Research Associate. She does applied research, with a focus on gender, positive youth development, Latina health, and HIV prevention. Dr Denner has helped develop several after school programs focused on increasing gender equity in school leadership and information technology (IT). Her research on these programs has contributed to an understanding of effective strategies for promoting youth leadership, building youth-adult partnerships, increasing girls’ confidence and capacity to produce technology, and engaging girls in IT. She has also published research on how girls learn while creating computer games. Dr. Denner currently leads the Applied Research Core, whose mission is to conduct state-of-the-art research that can be used to increase our understanding of how to promote healthy behaviors, social-emotional development, and increase educational equity. As part of a long-standing commitment to bridge research and practice, her research is designed and conducted in collaboration with schools and community-based agencies.
