BEST AND PROMISING PRACTICES AND LOCAL EFORTS

The HPDP program developed two searchable databases, one for “best and promising practices” and the other for “local efforts”, to provide American Indian/Alaska Native communities with resources to help develop health promotion and disease prevention programs.

Definitions:

Best Practice is a program that has been evaluated to be effective and that can be replicated, or at least modified in some way, so that it can be implemented in other settings.
Promising Practice is a program that may not have a formal evaluation completed, or at least modified in some way, but are identified by experts as programs with positive results that could be replicated.
Local Effort is a program and/or activity that has not been evaluated but are identified by local programs as producing positive results.
