HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson
to Honor Communities Reducing Regulatory Barriers
On November 17, 2004, HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson announced a new
award to recognize communities that have demonstrated extraordinary achievement
in eliminating regulatory barriers to housing affordability. States, counties,
cities, towns, townships, and other municipalities are eligible to receive
one of approximately ten awards that will be presented next year. Applications
are currently available and must be postmarked no later than March 15,
2005. HUD anticipates making decisions on the applications by mid-May.
