Park Rangers give hundreds of programs throughout the summer months to visitors to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Special Programs

The 23 minute park movie, Spirit of the Mountains, is shown daily at Beaver Meadows Visitor Center.

Snowshoe Tours - East Side (Estes Park)

Reservations are necessary and may be made no more than seven days in advance. Call 970-586-1223 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., daily. Limit of six people per reservation. For safety reasons, children under eight years old are not allowed on this activity. Sleds, skis, hikers, and children in backpacks are not permitted. You must provide your own snowshoes.

Snowshoe Ecology Walk
Beginner-level snowshoe tour exploring the natural world of a subalpine forest, no previous experience needed.

Offered Monday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday,
12:30-2:30 p.m., January 3 – March 28.

Snowshoe and Ski Tours - West Side (Grand Lake)

Reservations are required and may be made no more than seven days in advance. Park Pass required for all programs. Call 970-627-3471,
8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. to make reservations.

Beginner Snowshoe in the Kawuneeche
Beginner level 2-hour snowshoe tour with a ranger.

Offered Saturday, 9 a.m. & 1 p.m., February 7 - March 21.

Bring your own snowshoes and ski poles with large baskets. Children under eight years of age are not allowed on this activity.

Intermediate Snowshoe in the Kawuneeche
Intermediate level 2-hour snowshoe tour with a ranger. This is a more rigorous tour with altitude gains of up to 500', and requires the ability to maintain a good pace on uneven terrain.

Offered Sunday, 1 p.m., December 14 - March 15.

Bring your own snowshoes and ski poles with large baskets. Children under eight years of age are not allowed on this activity.

 

Trail Ridge Road Tours

Wednesdays in July & August 2008

Rocky Mountain Transit Management in conjunction with Rocky Mountain National Park will be offering a 5 hour interpretive tour of Trail Ridge Road. The tour will leave the Estes Park Visitors Center at 9:45 a.m. for the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center. The tour will begin at 10:00 a.m. from the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center. The tour will stop at the following locations:

  • Many Parks Curve
  • Rainbow Curve
  • Lava Cliffs
  • Alpine Visitor Center-Passengers will be allowed one hour for lunch
  • Forest Canyon Overlook

Ample time will be allowed at all stops for photographs and viewing.

Rocky Mountain National Park personnel will be onboard to describe the history and geologic wonders of the highest continuously paved road in North America. They will also be available to answer any questions.

The cost for adults is $20. Youths 16 and under $10. Children not occupying a seat are free. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center Book Store. Cash or checks accepted only, no credit cards. For further information please call 970-577-7477.

Did You Know?
Last winter, the coldest temperature inside the Alpine Visitor Center was 21.2 degrees. The snow insulates the building when it is closed for the winter.
