A Park Ranger with students

Discover Colorado National Monument with your students!

The monument’s Environmental Education staff can assist teachers and group leaders in using monument resources to incorporate environmental education into their curriculum. For your field trip, we offer ranger-guided education programs for 3rd, 4th and 6th grades, based on Colorado model content standards and School District 51 content standards. Programs can be arranged for other grades, please contact us to discuss ideas.

All field trips require reservations. Reservations allow us to better facilitate your requests and to minimize resource damage.  We ask reservations be made at least three weeks in advance. They will be processed on a first come, first served basis.

Teachers wanting to facilitate their own programs in the park or at the visitor's center are most welcome; but again, we remind you that reservations are required.  Thank you!

Our staff can help organize your field trip, identify study sites, recommend trails, and develop lesson plans.

Raven

Did You Know?
The common raven displays abilities to play and problem-solve rare among animals. This member of the crow family is also very vocal, using a variety of sounds for communication. Perhaps because of these qualities, ravens have achieved a certain stature in both European and Native American folklore.
