ROADS
The South Rim, North Rim and East Portal Roads are all open.
PRESCRIBED BURN
A prescribed burn is planned for this spring in the Grizzly Gulch area on the north rim. The purpose of the burn is to improve the ecosystem and reduce hazardous wildfire fuels. The burn will take place when weather conditions are favorable between April 20 and May 31.
SPRING RECREATION
Most of the trails on the South Rim are snow free with the exception of the Oak Flat Loop. Patches of relatively deep snow and icy spots exist. The inner canyon routes are melting out, but patchy snow still exists on the South Rim routes. The Gunnison Route still holds significant snow near the chain. Please call for updated route and trail conditions.
Hot chocolate, tea, and coffee are available at the South Rim Visitor Center from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. if you need a warm up after your trip.
