NCI will accept administrative supplement applications to provide research opportunities to High School and College Students, or Science Educators (e.g., Elementary, Middle, High School, Teachers, College Faculty, and Faculty from Non-research Intensive Institutions. With the exception of Ks, all mechanisms are eligible to apply.

NCI is committed to ensuring a cadre of next generation scientists and encourage applicant institutions and principal investigators to apply for these supplements. These supplements do not count against your receipt of administrative or competitive revision supplements.

Minority Institution/Cancer Center Partnership
Mechanisms: Feasibility Studies for Collaborative Interaction for Minority Institution/ Cancer Center Partnership (P20); Cooperative Planning Grant for Comprehensive Minority Institution/ Cancer Center Partnership (U56); Comprehensive Minority Institution/ Cancer Center Partnership (U54) and Cancer Center Support Grant (P30)
Specific areas of focus: The purpose of the MI/CCP funding mechanism is to foster and support stable, long-term, mutually beneficial collaborations among MSIs and the NCI-designated CCs for the purpose of developing stronger national cancer programs to reduce and ultimately eliminate the cancer health disparities. The MI/CCP program focuses on cancer research, cancer training, cancer outreach, and cancer education.
The purpose of the P30 CURE supplement is to engage the scientific curiosity and promote the potential cancer research careers of promising young high school and undergraduate students and to take full advantage of the community outreach and research capabilities of NCI-supported Cancer Centers. This opportunity is available for students from populations that are deemed underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral sciences. Although the parent P30 mechanism is managed by the Cancer Centers Branch, the P30 Supplement is a component of the CURE Program and is managed by the Diversity Training Branch of CRCHD.
Research proposals for MI/CCP should relate to the proposed activities and goals of the parent grant. Proposals for the P30 supplement must describe the activities planned for the students and/or faculty.
Scientific Priorities: Cancer health disparities research, training, outreach, education
Criteria for Selection: Selection factors will include the following:
- Relevance of the proposed activities to the MI/CCP parent grant and determination that the proposed activities are within the existing peer-reviewed and approved scope of the project
- Adequate progress of the parent grant appropriate to the current stage of the project.
- Appropriate and well-described plan to accomplish the goals within the timeframe proposed.
- How the experience would foster the goals of students and/or educators in health-related science.
- Appropriateness of the request to achieve Recovery Act goals in promoting job creation, economic development, and accelerating the pace and achievement of scientific research.
- Relevance to target areas/priorities.
