Fryzel Tours State Department

August 28, 2008, Alexandria, Va. – National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman Michael E. Fryzel toured and became a member of State Department Federal Credit Union during his visit of the credit union’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA.
The tour was part of Chairman Fryzel’s outreach to the credit union industry during his first months in office. He also met with State Department FCU President and CEO Jan Roche and received a tour of the credit union’s facilities and operations. “I am pleased that NCUA employees have the opportunity to join this credit union. SDFCU has a longstanding tradition of excellence in member service and safe and sound operations, and I am impressed by their approach to fulfilling their mission,” remarked Chairman Fryzel.

The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of nearly 87 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
