The National CHR Education Conference, Celebrating 40 Years as the Foundation of Care in Native Communities held July 28-31, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The theme of the conference was CHRs Make A Difference. The following individuals and groups were recognized by the IHS National CHR Program.
Mary Alice Trapp, RN at the Native WEB Native American Programs at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN, received a national award from the IHS Headquarters CHR Program.

Greetings all. IHS HQ CHR Program is updating the way in which we train CHR Basic this year. We will conduct only 2 (two) CHR Basic courses during FY 2009. One of those will be a traditional two-week classroom setting and the other will be blended education – a combination of online modules and traditional classroom setting.

"The Blackfeet Community Health Representatives (CHRs) did an amazing job of identifying an issue that's real in our community," said Montana Rep. Shannon Augare last week. The local legislator was referring to SB-438, a senate bill regulating the sale and distribution of energy drinks, one created and made possible through the efforts of the Blackfeet CHR program.
