The data sets provided on these pages were developed to support
current State of Georgia, River Basin Management
Planning by the Georgia Department of Natural Resource, Environmental
Protection Division in cooperation with the U.S.
Geological Survey. The data are arranged by major basin and hydrologic unit.
The digital map data will be useful to the
general public, private industry, schools, and government agencies.
The data include: Towns and Cities, County Boundaries, Detailed Hydrologic
Units, Level-I Landuse/Landcover,
Major Roads, River Reach, Roads, Surface Water Intakes (available upon
written request, only), Hydrography, Surface
Water Monitoring Stations, 1:100,000-scale Digital Raster
Graphic (topographic maps), Land Application Sites, National Pollutant
Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Sites (available upon written request,
only), Solid Waste
Landfills, Stream Water Quality Assessment 305(b) Stream Reaches and 305(b)
Lakes.
After selecting a River Basin, below, you will be given
the option to choose an 8-digit hydrologic unit (watershed). These
watershed files contain a "zipped" dataset, metadata and an
ArcExplorer (C) ESRI project (see example). Once unzipped, this project file (.aep extension) and data can
be viewed using ArcExplorer..
