Again in 2009, there will be an East Symposium and a West Symposium. The symposia are open to Federal employees and contractors currently representing their Federal agencies.

The Symposium East, hosted by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), will be held at the Natcher Conference Center (building 45), on June 16 - 18, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The conference center is located on the campus of the NIH, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892. Government ID will be required for entry to the NIH campus.

There will be Green Purchasing Training offered again this year at Symposium East for government employees.  Certificates will be issued upon completion but you will need to check with your Agency on whether it will count toward acquisition training.  More information on Green Purchasing Training will be available soon.

The Symposium West, sponsored by EPA Region 10, will be held on June 2-4, 2009, at The Hilton Bellevue, 300 112th Avenue S.E., Bellevue, Washington, just 25 minutes from SeaTac International Airport and 10 miles from Seattle.  The venue is in the heart of Bellevue, near the restored shops and art galleries of Old Bellevue. 

Again this year, a small admission fee ($125) will be collected from Symposium East attendees beginning April 17 (except DHHS employees, symposia planning committee members, and all speakers) to cover the costs of registration.  Admission fee for Symposium West will be $270 for all attendees, exhibitors and speakers this year.

In 2009, Symposium East will expand its available exhibit space to accommodate up to 50 exhibits.  There will be 15 locations reserved, free-of-charge, for federal or non-profit exhibitors.  Exhibitor registration will begin April 17 for Symposium East.  Symposium West will host exhibit space for up to 8 exhibits, restricted to Federal agencies or non-profit organizations.
