Chairman Johnson Will Address NY Regional Unbanked ConferenceOctober 3, 2007, Alexandria, Va. – NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson will discuss why more than 10 million Americans do not have access to mainstream financial services and the important role financial education plays in stabilizing people lives at the Financial Education and Literacy Commission’s Northeast Regional Conference on Reaching Unbanked People being held in New York City Thursday, October 4, 2007. Chairman Johnson and U.S. Treasurer Anna Escobedo Cabral are featured speakers at the regional conference, the fourth in a series of national discussions being held as part of the Financial Literacy and Education Commission’s National Strategy for Financial Literacy. The National Credit Union Administration is the federal agency that charters and supervises federal credit unions.
