Any child between the ages of 9 and 12 can become a Junior Ranger at Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site. When you arrive on site ask the first park ranger you see about becoming a Junior Ranger. You will be required to complete the activities in the "Official Activity Booklet" and agree to live by the Junior Ranger Promise and Dr. King's Six Principles of Nonviolence.

On April 4, 1968 Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN. Hundreds of thousands attended his funeral in Atlanta. President Johnson declared a day of national mourning. During the week following his death, riots erupted in over 100 cities.
