Roan Mountain State Park hosts a Youth Trout Fishing Tournament on May 9 for children ages 6-15. The tournament will start at 9 a.m. EST and end at 1 p.m. EST. The river will be stocked and closed to fishing before the tournament. For more information call (423) 772-0190.

Celebrate Mother’s Day at Tennessee State Parks on May 10.  All eight state park restaurants will be serving a delicious Mother’s Day Buffet on Sunday, May 10 beginning at 11 a.m. until closing. Buffet selections and prices will vary, ranging from $12.95 to $15.95. Paris Landing State Park is the perfect location for people looking to enjoy a complete range of water sports along Kentucky Lake. Serious anglers already recognize Kentucky Lake for its great fishing and it’s marina is one of the most popular staging points (photo left). After getting off the lake, check out options for hiking, camping or watching wildlife along the shoreline. Austin Peay State University is holding its 15th Annual Bass tournament from Paris Landing State Park on May 9. Come watch the weigh in at 3:00 p.m. CST.
